The University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (UNICAS) is located in Cassino, with two satellite campuses in Frosinone and Gaeta, all located in the Lazio Region, in Central Italy, in the heart of the Mediterranean region.
It is a modern, multidisciplinary institution, combining Italy’s ancient cultural heritage with a strong commitment to innovation and internationalisation. It offers a human-scale, close-knit campus experience, with about 8,000 students and 1,700 international students from 60 nationalities (2024–25), combining academic excellence with an authentic Italian experience at an affordable cost of living.
The university includes five main Departments: Engineering, Economics and Law, Humanities and Philosophy, Human, Social and Health Sciences, with English-taught programmes in the Engineering and Economics areas. The campuses feature nearly 60 research labs, modern libraries, lecture halls, sports complexes, student residences, and innovation-oriented facilities that foster applied research and community life.
UNICAS main campus is based in Cassino, a city strategically placed halfway between Rome and Naples, within an area connecting three neighbouring regions (Campania, Molise, and Abruzzo) and combining ancient heritage with a drive for innovation.
Montecassino Abbey overlooks the city from the top of the mount, standing as a symbol of European and world history and recalling its significance as a pivotal site during WWII.
